As soon as I saw this pattern on the WEBS blog, I really wanted a pair to keep my chilly hands warmer.
When I finished the second red scarf, and had yarn to spare I did some weighing and some math.
I think I easily have enough yarn to make a pair of red velvet curtain gauntlets for myself.
On ravelry, I've seen that a few people have made longer gauntlets, casting on 36 or even 42 stitches. I went with 42 because I have plenty of yarn (I hope), and my hands are definitely plenty cold!!
I'm definitely having tons of fun with this yarn purchase! Two scarves and now (I hope) a pair of gauntlets!
I did take your advice and add the finished scarf to my "Gift" bin. Not quite ready for next Christmas...but it's a great start!

Okay....You made me head over to WEBS (and I wasn't going to look until my stash dwindled). But, I see why you wanted to make these gauntlets. They are just divine. And I must say you are really ahead of the curve with gifts. I'm still recovering here -- but things are getting done. Last week's afghan still makes me smile and this week, I'm binding off a quilt made of thrifted sheets and an old chenille bedspread. If the sun ever shines again, I'll take pictures. Oh -- back to those gauntlets -- I love the color you chose.
What a fun looking knit! The color is gorgeous; it will warm you up just looking at them!
They are going to be great, even the colour looks hot and toasty! Looking forward to seeing how they turn out.
Mitts are wonderful for keeping your hands warm in the house!
What a great idea, thanks for the pattern. I really need to knit some of these, but oh for more time for knitting!
This is really lovely and the color is so cheerful and warm! I use gauntlets all day long, it helps a lot.
Your comments that gauntlets help definitely make me want to get them done!! We got 5 inches of snow today, so our thaw was short-lived. Winter's not over yet!
Right now my hands aren't cold, but that's only because my computer runs kind of hot!! (I'm leaving it that way until summer!)
Thanks for your comments! I'm glad I'm not the only fingerless glove convert!
