It's a little embarrassing to finish a project in January. If I'd had it done by Christmas, it would have been a Christmas gift.
Now it will just wait until the next gift-giving opportunity. (Maybe that means I have my first gift ready for next Christmas!?)
I sense a post coming on the subject of deadlines and me. But that's another topic for another day.
What I liked about this project:
- Gorgeous yarn
- Knits up fast
- Perfect social knitting - interesting without being difficult
- I will repeat that I LOVE this yarn
- I knit more often when I'm actually going to my knitting group meetings
- Deadlines and I don't get along
- I think this scarf could still be at least a little wider.
- Buy enough of this yarn to knit something for myself!!
Yarn: Misti Alpaca Handpaint Worsted in color 035 (Inca Red)
Pattern: Free Pattern: Ribs and Ruffles Chunky Scarf
Since I used worsted weight yarn, I used 2 strands together to simulate chunky yarn.
Needles: Size 13
Amount of yarn: 5 oz (1.4 skeins)
Finished size: 4.5 x 50 inches
Pattern modifications: Cast on enough extra stitches to add 1 more repeat of the rib.
I'm finally on ravelry with this project.

Nothing's softer than alpaca! It turned out great. And see -- you do finish projects. We're running neck and neck so far this year (I didn't write that just because you made a scarf -- haha -- but because we've each finished one project). Have a great evening.
I like the pattern! Great color, too.
I say consider it the first finished project for next Christmas. You need a "Done Box" so you can put each finished item in and watch your gift collection grow. I haven't ever done this, but the Aunt did and it seemed like a great idea!
I looks like it could be a good Valentines gift its red! But if I was you I would keep it for myself I love red!!
I like Kelly's idea of a 'done box' so much! I usually give things away as soon as they are done! Very nice scarf-I like them this width!
Beautiful scarf - love the color!
PS I'm sure if Luke and Yoda could talk, they'd agree that the beautiful angoras would indeed make better spinning partners than they would (grin)!! Looking forward to the fuzz fest and to seeing the rabbit(s) and spinners "in action"!!

This sacrf looks so luscious an warm, and I love the color. I'm sure it'll be exactly as beautiful in December this year and then you already have a finished Christmas gift!
Good for you Sue! It looks great. I like the way it hangs and the end treatment. I found the same thing about going to my fiber group meetings. I seem to be more productive in a dedicated social environment than on my own.
Yup! I'd think of it as the first gift complete for Christmas 2010.
BTW - nice red! Deep and rich!
Glad the verdict is to put it in a DONE box til the next gift-giving opportunity! I like the idea of having something ready already!!
This yarn is wonderful. If red looked good next to my face, I would be tempted to keep this scarf. But I've just cast on some fingerless gloves out of this yarn for me to keep. I had enough left to make a cowl, but decided it just doesn't do good things for me colorwise. So sad.
Pics coming soon of the next (and I think last) project with this yarn!

Great scarf! And Oh - why be embarrassed about a project finished in January???? Finishing projects has no season! Red is good for a Valentine's gift!
I really like the scarf. I especially like the yarn you chose for it - they really go well together.
