Guest Bath Towels: Getting Started

Sometime during the holidays, I started thinking about my next weaving project.

Motivation:
  • My kitchen towel drawer is overflowing with towels
  • I love handwoven towels and want to make more

Choosing yarn colors

Inspiration:
  • The ocean-colored yarns in my stash seem like they'd make a great set of towels

Goals for this project:
  • Weave towels for our guest bathroom that look good in the room and are nice to dry your hands on
  • Use some of those stash yarns
  • Weave with 4 shafts on my Toika
  • If I end up with a few towels for gifts, that is never a bad thing!

Tile floor

Colors that look good in the guest bathroom

Colors that fit my ocean theme, but don't look good in that room

So it begins.....

I'm looking forward to seeing the towels that you will make with these colors. I hadn't thought about making hand towels for the guest bath! Great idea!

Oh, two sets of colors. That means two sets of towels!

Love your way of thinking. I am totally in sympathy with it, and have now decided that a store of potential gifts will be a great rationale for weaving and weaving and weaving...!! Actually now that I weave I often feel that a handwoven gift would be just right but rarely have one to give.
How do you manage to build up such a stash. I only seem to have what i buy for a project and leftover small amounts

Too many choices of beautiful colors. I know they'll turn out beautifully. Through the years, my mom's given me lots of hand-towels, but I hate to use them for fear of ruining them. They're just too pretty, so I end up "displaying" them.

Beautiful colours. Are they all cottons? I'm looking forward to seeing your towels.

What I could see of the bathroom , it looked neutral except for the sink counter-bluish and you have that color in the stash that makes you sing so go for that one. Now for pattern choices.......

My awful chenille ended up as small guest sized towels but I just can't stand them!! LOL.
I look forward to seeing your beauties.
