Fine Feathered Friends

Two delightful surprises....

First, this quail has been visiting our yard lately. I've never seen a quail in New Hampshire in the 20 years I've lived here. But now, he often visits while we're having breakfast.

Bailey enjoys watching the quail even more than we do!

Second, Leigh honored me with this blog award:

"This blog invests and believes in the PROXIMITY-nearness in space, time and relationships. These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement! Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers!”

Thanks so much Leigh!! The online community means a lot to me, and encourages me so much in my creative pursuits. I really appreciate all of you - other bloggers, readers, commenters!!

I'd like to pass this award along to: Susan, Lynnette, Theresa, Dot, Deanna, BSpinner, and Charlotte. I really appreciate all of your knowledge, support and encouragement!! I know that several of you have already received this award....but I just wanted to recognize how helpful you've been to me in feeling a part of the online weaving community!

Why thank you very much!
We do seem to have a nice little community going don't we?

Gosh, thank you! I'm in such good company too.
Your little bob white is quite a handsome bird.
We have quail here and I see them scurry in groups
across the driveway. The horses have occasionally flushed a bevy from high grass on our rides. Makes for some interesting moments.

Thank you so much! I greatly appreciate the internet weaving community, me too. How lucky you are to have quails in the garden, I have never seen one "live". you must have been quite near it to take this picture. Here we have grouses in the garden quite often.

I actually wonder if this quail might have been raised and released by some one locally. It seemed almost tame - and like it would have walked right into our house if we'd had the door open.

Jim, my husband, has a great telephoto lens for the camera....so most bird photos that I post use that lens. If it's a really good bird, it's also a good bet that Jim is the photographer.

Theresa...that must be a little startling to flush a group of quail. I'd jump...so I wonder how horses react?!

Charlotte, That is so cool that you see grouse in your garden. I've only seen a grouse once - and it wasn't even still long enough to really look at it. (We startled it while walking in the woods....and then it flew and scared me!!)

Heading off to my studio now! I've got some great stuff going on there....which hopefully I'll blog about later!

Thanks for the award.
The picture of the quail is amazing. We had a phesant last week and I couldn't get a picture of him to save my soul.
Since we live almost in the middle of an open field we don't get much wild life so when we do we get so excited.

I love pheasants!! At our old house we used to see them a lot.....in fact, they visited the day we were choosing between that house and another (house shopping), and Jim thinks the pheasants are why I chose the house we bought! (It's possible that he's right!)
