Autumn in the Garden

Jack-in-the-Pulpit Berries

Arisaema triphyllum

Remember when I noticed green berries, or when this plant was blooming?

Three sets of berries on one plant

I had no idea that Jack-in-the-Pulpits produced berries. The berries are not edible, and in fact can cause burning and itching (according that what I've read).

Autumn Joy Sedum & Asters

Much as I might try to believe it's still summer, chilly nights, crisp days, and autumn flowers are convincing me otherwise.

I have much to do to prepare for winter!

Your sedum are already in bloom! Oh my mine have buds but have not developed their color! I'm glad to see what I have to look forward to!

We just learned - this morning in fact - that the reason we have nothing to show from our garden, the garden pests, is that the deer are one step ahead of us.

Our neighbors were here to get their grandson/ward up to speed to house sit while we're gone on vacation. Grandpa, a hunter, espyed deer tracks everywhere. He says deer laugh at our fence. It explains where all the apples went.

Nice to see the sedum. I use to have a lot of it in my New England garden. We're expecting a resurgence of summer with 90 degree temps predicted. Enjoy the lovely fall weather. It's just about perfect in Sept. and early Oct.

Loved the sedum pics-I had forgotten how pretty they can be!

We had our pattypan squash plants covered with blankets last night, hoping that if we did have frost, they'd survive! Autumn is definitely upon us... and in this morning's paper I'm reading that all the rain this summer is going to lead to spectacular fall foliage - hooray for an upside to the summer-that-hardly-was!!!

Hello Sue.
The berrys was beautifully red. But I dont want to eat them or pick them if they so eatchy.

The yarn had a verry nice blue colour. Thats my favorit colour.

In Norway the fall has finaly arrived for the year.
The colours on the trees are so nice. I need to go out whit the camera for moore photos.

Aren't we funny about color??! You display pink flowers but can't bring yourself to work on your newly acquired green yarns. I am attracted to green, so much so that I bought the Garnier Fructis shampoo because it came in a green bottle and started using Clinique 20 years ago because I was so drawn to their green containers.

I love the picture of your jack in the pulpit. We have a shrub that is now producing bring orange berries. I forget the name but love the orange berries against the rich green leaves.
There must be two different autum joy plants. Are's are pale green with pink flowers like yours but I've seen deep green with rich burgundy flowers.
