Fall Today: Maples on Fire

You know trees are beautiful when Jim stops the car and says "You want a picture of those, right?"

Science Daily article about a new theory on why there are more red autumn leaves in North America and Asia than in Europe. (Plus links to lots more about red fall color.)

I'm ignoring the bare aspen trees behind these beautiful maples, and just enjoying fall's last gasp!

They turn so quickly. When we arrived in NYC a couple of weeks ago, Little Sharon expressed disappointment that the trees hadn't turned. By the time we left, they had started. Lucky you - ours are done.

That's great that you got to see foliage in NYC, along with all of the other wonderful things you've been blogging about!

I've had my eye on these trees all fall. About half of them have lost all of their leaves, but the others finally turned this beautiful red color.

Our leaves will be gone soon enough!! (Too soon for me!)

Wow, the trees seem to glow with color! I am enjoying the mini Fall here in GA, the leaves are blowing down from the trees and there is a crispness to the air we don't get in FL this time of year!

I see you have him trained to stop on a dime for photos! I love it...

Great looking trees - our leaves are fast disappearing...

Delighted Hands, So glad you're getting a taste of fall!!

Sara, We still have some beautiful leaves, but we have a lot of bare trees here already. I expect within another week it will just be the oaks and beeches who hang onto their clattery brown leaves for months.

I'm lucky that Jim also loves to take pictures - so he understands when there's something I want to get a shot of!!
