Did They Miss the Memo?

It's mid-July....or late July.

It is definitely not early autumn.

What's going on with these red leaves in our yard?

Summer just started!!! Doesn't that mean fall should arrive later than usual???

I'm still in denial that winter will ever return here!

If you don't want winter, I am more than happy to take him here. It does seem early for the leaves to even be thinking of changing. Could it be the low temps that have caused some leaves to change. Maybe a thinly veiled threat to summer that if she doesn't show up with some heat and sunshine, fall is moving in?

It is just cold here all the time, sometimes nicer in the winter than the summer. Today it was cold, foggy, misty, breezy...summer weather.
I wonder what is going on with your leaves, it does seem terribly early, maybe they are just confused.

What a coincidence, this posting. We were driving on a back road through Lee today and I saw a clump of red leaves in an otherwise completely green line of trees... I couldn't believe my eyes. It was as if someone had painted a little clump of Fall right there in the middle of Summer. I wonder what's causing it. A curiosity for sure!!

Sounds like you need to consider moving further south - maybe not deep south... Summer is longer and amazingly right now we aren't above 90!

Just a few elderly leaves.......you know how some people act old at 60 while others are still in their prime? These leaves are just aging faster! Looks pretty, tho, sorry about the chilly summer.

I don't want to think about fall just yet. Great color.

By the time cooler weather rolls around, I'll be ready for it I hope - or I really should consider moving!

It is odd though that plants somehow decide to give up certain leaves or certain branches. I had never thought of it as aging, but maybe that's exactly what it is.

I love fall.....just not quite yet!!
