Two Engineers Choosing Colors

We want to paint our sunroom.....and not just a single color....one of those glazed paint jobs that will remind us of Tuscany (or something).

Many paint chips and tiny jars of test paint later we've chosen colors!!!

Fingers crossed that it will actually look good on the walls!

Wish us luck!!

Oh pretty color! Yellows are so tough to get correct too, remember, yellow reflects around on itself deepening the intensity. When I've used yellow I've picked my color and then dropped down one shade lighter on the card. Of course you have a lot less wall space than I've had in typical rooms.

Love the terra cottas and yellows, my sister did painted her kitchen walls very similar, with the sponge painting, just beautiful.

Once I'm out of this log home I'll have some fun with paint!

Love the yellow/gold for your kitchen! That is the same that I would like to have in mine...but I only talk about it ...ho hum. I can't wait to see the outcome!

Love your colours, of course I loved my summer in Tuscany too! Warm and friendly.

One of the great things about paint - there's more of it at the store! Enjoy the ride and I hope the first round is exactly what you want!

Love both yellow and terra cotta.
I have a lighter yellow in my kitchen. The terra cotta will look so cozy in your sunroom.

We're 2/3 of the way done! Yesterday Jim painted the base color and this morning I ragged the Dijon color on the sunroom walls. (We're just painting the sunroom.....not the kitchen at this point.)

We like how the Dijon looks so much that we almost want to stop now, but the gold doesn't look right with the terracotta tiles, so we have to add the next coat of terracotta-colored paint.

I think I know what I'm doing tomorrow morning!!

The colors really haven't darkened up much in the sunroom. I think it's because it's so light in there....6 large windows to outside, a french door to the patio, two skylights, and french doors to the living room and kitchen. The room is more glass than wall - which seems like it should make painting easier - but there's a lot of trim!

Janice - We stayed in a cabin in NC for a month last year, and by the end I was putting colorful things all over the place because my eyes were getting tired of the natural brown. So yes - I'll bet if you move you'll go wild with paint to make up for years when you couldn't!

Well, I practically wrote a whole post in this comment!

There is a quilter named Freddie,
love her book and house with all the saturated colors. When she referred to red as a neutral, I said, "YES!" A direct result of living with all these logs and wood for 12+ years.

That must be related to how Daryl Lancaster calls lime neutral sometimes!

I heard a great quote about fuchsia being the navy blue of Indian fashion.
